Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from therapy?

First of all, you can expect results. I often use a Solution Focused framework, which is exactly what it sounds like. If you are struggling with a specific issue, we will work together to develop solutions appropriate to the problem and to your particular needs.

I also use a Cognitive Behavioral Model which suggests that all individuals feel and act according to the specific thoughts and belief systems they have. We will explore these belief systems and determine if they are still working on your behalf. If not, I will assist you in developing new belief systems that are more in line with who you are and what you truly believe  and will help you move forward and meet your goals.

What is it like working together?

When we meet, I’m sure you’ll find me easy to talk to, supportive, and knowledgable about the issues you are experiencing. My clients have told me that I have challenged them, inspired them, supported them, and assisted them in achieving what they want most in life.  Most of all, I help them feel better!

I believe in self responsibility and encourage my clients to be in charge of both their goals and their growth. My mission is to help you to identify what is hindering your happiness and your personal growth, and then work with you to find strategies that help you live the life you dream of.

One of the first things we’ll do is to define what your vision of success looks like. We’ll chart a course that will move you toward this vision effectively and efficiently. As obstacles appear – and they will – I will help you use your newly developed skills to work through them.

What if my issue isn’t a really big one?

No problem is too small or too insignificant. In fact, often, it is better to have a resource to process and reframe the small things in order to prevent them from becoming critical issues. Collaborating and problem solving is what I love to do – my reward is seeing your positive results and personal growth.

How often will we meet?

Like anything, the more time you spend on something, especially intitally, the sooner you will see the change you’re looking for.  Because of this, clients usually come for therapy weekly  for the first couple of weeks, and then taper off to every other week as their symptoms resolve and their situations improve. With that said, I also recognize that often schedules and budgets don’t allow for weekly meetings, so we will work together to create a plan that meets your unique needs.

Sessions last 45-50 minutes each. Longer sessions can be arranged ahead of time.

What is your payment policy?

Individual Counseling –  Cash, Checks, and Visa or Mastercard are accepted for payment at the time services are rendered.

Insurance – I am able to file for out of network benefits with many insurance companies. Please call me directly if you have questions about your insurance.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that we are all living very busy lives and sometimes we forget appointments. But, because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, and I cannot fill that time with another client, you are financially responsible for your appointment time. Please provide 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment to avoid being billed for the full hour.
